Network & Branch Support Technician – KZN

JOB PURPOSE:

Maintaining and upgrading Sabre Networks & customer owned networks to meet repeater equipment specifications within the Western & Eastern Cape region. In addition provide product support for the branch and its customers.

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS/ACTIVITES:

Sabre Radio Networks maintenance, service & upgrades:

  • NETMON monitoring of all VHF networks in region/s
  • Perform annual service as per company requirements and record keeping thereof
  • Build good sound relationships with high site owners
  • Adhering to high site health & safety protocols
  • Climb mast, structures and towers.
  • Install antenna’s brackets, clamps, poles etc.
  • Assembling of antenna connections on antenna cables.
  • Programming of repeaters & base stations.
  • Generate accurate job cards of all site work & record keeping thereof.
  • Conduct ongoing high site evaluations, client control rooms
  • Keep Technical Support Manager informed of problems resolved and outstanding
  • Assemble and test routers, base stations and other field equipment as and when required.
  • Diagnose and identify fault trends and advise Technical Support Manager thereof.
  • 24/7 standby
  • General housekeeping at repeater site.
  • Identify faults and signal interference on site.

Customer Owned Networks maintenance, service & upgrades:

Product training & support:

  • Perform technical training across all FSK products
  • On-site and off-site consultations , recommendations & advice

Administration & Reporting:

  • Daily monitoring of all networks within region.
  • Generate weekly report reflecting job/training/support activities.
  • Generate weekly reports on network / radio behavior.
  • Generate weekly reports on general network stockholding.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Directive on Fleet Management: ref DFM09/13 with regards to the utilization of Company pool vehicles.

Customer Retention:

  • Keep customers informed of their network capabilities.
  • Interact with customers to establish lasting customer relationships.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and review Sabre processes with the focus on value-add and optimization of resource.

General & branch support:

  • Any other tasks that you may be required to perform as directed by your manager from time to time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (N3)

RELATED EXPERIENCE (YEARS):

  • VHF Network Experience
  • GSM Networks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • N6 (Electronics)
  • A-plus: Computers
  • N-plus: Networks

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong logical ability in determining fault finding.
  • Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Analytical and structured.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Customer Service Focussed.
  • Ability to work on one’s own.
